The “4 C’s” To Consider When Purchasing a Diamond

When deciding what kind of engagement ring to purchase, remember to take the “4 C’s” into consideration:

Cut. A diamond’s cut refers to the proportions and symmetry of the diamond. Diamonds that have the right proportions and symmetry will better reflect light and show off its brilliance.

Color. A diamond’s color is determined by comparing the diamond to a master set. Most diamonds are not “colorless” – they have tints of brown or yellow. Diamonds also come in a variety of colors including pink, blue, purple, red, green and more.

Clarity. A diamond’s clarity indicates how rare it is. Diamonds are classified into certain levels. Only about one percent of diamonds are classified as “flawless”, which is the highest clarity level a diamond can reach.

Carat Weight. A diamond’s carat weight refers to its weight, not the size of the diamond.
