In this 14k White Gold Contemporary Engagement Ring, we have a straight forward and delicate interpretation of the Halo. Four claw prongs hold a round cut diamond rather seamlessly, with twelve round cut diamonds surrounding it in a dazzling halo. While the center diamonds’ prongs aren’t very visible, those of the diamonds in the halo are purposefully so.
The inner prongs, quite small in comparison to the size of center diamond, fade away into invisibility, while the larger outer prongs help fill in the blanks between the halo diamonds to create a more cohesive circular shape as opposed to a jagged one. For extra glimmer, the shank, too, features round cut diamonds set in a scallop setting until about midway down. Elevated with high shoulders, the crown stands on a base of the diamond studded archway.
A more vintage approach, this Art Deco inspired Halo Engagement Ring features clean lines and bold geometric shapes. A round cut center diamond is held in place with four prominent prongs, giving the circular shape the illusion of corners, perhaps to create a move cohesive look with the hexagonal base it lays on. The white gold halo is separated into six segments with intricate milgrain detailing along the edges and with pave diamonds filling it throughout.
Along the shank, diamonds shimmer away in a surface prong setting. On the profile, knife edge designs line the yellow gold shank, and along with the beaded edges, provide a lovely element of texture. For an added touch of glamour, the ends of the shank are molded into a fishtail shape, holding up the white gold crown in a light and airy fashion.
Perhaps the most creative interpretation of a halo setting, this 14k White Gold Band also uses geometric shapes as a key element. Above and below the round cut center stone, round cut diamonds are laid in an ascending to descending fashion, with the center stone being the largest, evoking the silhouette of a tiara.
To the left and right of the center stone are baguette diamonds. While not exactly a cohesive halo formed as a singular shape, Gabriel & Co use these differing components to create the illusion of an oval halo, adding the extra shine and highlighting the center stone like a classic halo would.
